Male and Female Catheterisation have been updated following peer review. 
We have now completed updating the Intramuscular injections procedures, to bring them into line with the EU directive on safer sharps:

Update for June 2013

Collecting a Sputum Specimen has been updated. This procedure shows collection of a sputum specimen from a patient who is not in source isolation. It also discusses the type of personal protective equipment that might be used if the patient is in source isolation.
Nutrition Screening in Adults has been updated. The author has expanded the introduction and included some new references.
Hazards in the Environment has been updated. Very little updating was required but we have included new references to the COSHH regulations and the HSE guidance on Safer Sharps.

When and How to Clean Surgical Wounds has beed updated and revised and includes an explanation of "clean technique" and describes how to cleanse a surgical wound using an aseptic technique.

Central Venous Catheterisation parts 3 and 4 have been updated and expanded. References have also been updated.

Neurological Observations has been reviewed and no updates are required at this time.
Insertion of a Nasogastric Tube in Infants and Children has been updated following peer review.
We have updated our procedure on "Cleansing Surgical Wounds". It is now called, "When and How to Cleanse Surgical Wounds". The new version includes a definition of "clean technique", and describes how to cleanse a surgical wound (when required) using an aseptic technique.
Blood Transfusion has been updated. The references have been updated (where appropriate) and guidance changed accordingly. The main changes are in Part 5 and Part 6, where there is additional advice on monitoring fluid balance for those at risk of overload, which is supported by the revised 2012 guidance from the British Committee for Standards in Haematology.

22 1 13: Assisting patients with eating and drinking has now been updated. This now shows the "red tray" system and gives more emphasis to giving patients the help they need top feed themselves, as well as describing what to do if patients do need additional assistance.
8 1 13: Assisting during central venous catheterisation has now been updated and replaces the procedure formerly called "Central venous catheterisation". Also Management of a central venous catheter has now been updated and expanded.

Updates for August include:

1) Inserting a Nasogastric Tube. The title of this procedure is now "Inserting a Fine-bore Nasogastric Tube". This procedure now includes reference to the NPSA 2012 alert about not flushing the tube until after its position has been confirmed. We have also redesigned the pages.
2) Nasogastric Tubes: Feeding Via an Enteral Tube. This procedure now includes reference to the NPSA 2012.
3) Emptying an Indwelling Urinary Catheter Bag. This procedure now includes reference to the NPSA 2012.
4) Eye Care series. The author has reviewed these procedures and made some minor text changes. 
5) Isolation Precautions. The author has reviewed this procedure and it now references the NICE 2012 infection control guidelines.
6) Measuring Blood Pressure (featuring devices other than mercury sphygmomanometers), plus the procedure on Measuring blood pressure lying/sitting and standing. These have been peer reviewed and updated, and some new references have been added.
